Riding, Driving,Vaulting, Ground Work, Barn Yard Buddies Day Camp. Horse Power's nationally recognized proactive intervention and treatment programs assist youth in situations of physical or sexual abuse, divorce, suicide, bereavement or depression.

A model program, designed to work with schools serving students with attention deficit disorders or learning problems and/or may be “at risk” of running away, dropping out of school or developing patterns of juvenile delinquency, has had much success.

“Barn Yard Buddies,” the Horse Power Day Camp, is one of the best things we do at Horse Power! Conducted during the summer in several weeklong sessions, each beginning at 10AM and ending at 3PM, Monday through Friday. Each week of camp is tailored to meeting the needs of campers with different challenges. For example, one week may be geared to children with physical challenges who are otherwise mentally able. Another week features activities for youngsters with more cognitive challenges. Still other weeks focus on individuals with mental health challenges or extremely low academic skills. Occasionally an adult with appropriate levels of functioning may attend a session with great results.

Regardless of the type of session, activities include riding, carriage driving, vaulting, horsemanship skill development, playing with farm animals, tons of group team building games like the Parachute, Treasure Hunts and Scavenger Hunt., arts and crafts and hayrides. Each day has a theme around which all activities are built. Examples of these themes are Jungle Day, Pirate Day, Circus Day, Field Day and Hawaiian Day. The week culminates in a Pony Parade with family, friend and, neighbors amidst lots of cheering and celebration.

A huge amount of creativity, fun, camaraderie, physical fitness, learning and just plain fun happen every minute of “Barn Yard Buddies”. Spaces always go quickly.
